In the 2007 teen comedy “Superbad,” a 17-year-old Fogell uses fake ID to buy alcohol for a party. His Hawaiian driver’s license has one name, McLovin.
Fogell’s drivers license describes him as a 25-year-old organ donor from Hawaii with just one name: McLovin.
The hilarious McLovin fake ID is now part of pop culture. It’s not often a film graphic is hoisted to iconic status. When it comes to film graphics, a driver’s license is a common request, but they don’t normally get much screen time. Even so, any graphic destined for the camera gets designed like a hero prop. The reality is that film graphics often end up in the blurry background, and sometimes, they don’t even make it onto the screen. But something very different happened when the “Superbad” fans put the McLovin driver’s license on merchandise. The graphic is iconic and is apart of the real world.
